Medication continuity

Prescription pick-up, on its own or added to your ride

A prescription sitting behind the counter is not doing anyone any good

Medication gaps are one of the most preventable causes of hospital readmission. Sometimes the only thing standing between a patient and their tablets is a two-mile drive.

02Why this ride matters

The two-mile gap

A new prescription is issued at an appointment, sent to a pharmacy, and then waits. If the patient cannot get there, doses are missed, conditions destabilise and a preventable readmission starts to look likely.

Jomia handles this two ways. Either the rider travels to the pharmacy with assistance to the counter, or a medication stop is added to a trip already happening that day, which is usually the most efficient option.

Where a patient cannot travel at all, a pharmacy errand can sometimes be arranged on their behalf, subject to the pharmacy's own identification and authorisation rules.

The trip runs on your list, at your pace

Pharmacies set their own rules on who may collect a prescription for someone else. Many require the patient's name, date of birth, address and sometimes written authorisation, and controlled medications have stricter requirements.

Questions, answered

Prescription Pick-up: questions we hear in Woodbridge

Sometimes. It depends entirely on the pharmacy's policy and the medication involved. Tell us which pharmacy and we will confirm their requirements before the trip is booked.

Yes, and it is the most efficient way to do it. Mention it when booking so the stop is scheduled rather than squeezed in.

Controlled substances have strict collection rules and most pharmacies will not release them to a third party. In those cases the patient needs to attend, and we provide the transportation instead.

The driver will check with the counter and, where the wait is short, wait. If it will be a long delay, we discuss returning later rather than sitting indefinitely.

Yes. Many riders have a preferred pharmacy that holds their history, and we go where your prescription actually is.

Yes, and it is a common request. A pharmacy stop on the way home from a discharge means the first dose is not delayed.

The driver hands it to you at your door. Nothing is left in a mailbox or on a porch.
