The service everything else is built on

Non-emergency medical transportation across Virginia

A ride that treats the appointment as seriously as you do

NEMT is transportation for people who do not need an ambulance but do need more than a rideshare. Jomia Med Transport picks up at the door, assists to the vehicle and stays with the plan until the return trip is finished.

02Why this ride matters

What non-emergency medical transportation actually means

Non-emergency medical transportation, usually shortened to NEMT, covers every scheduled trip where health is the reason for the journey. Dialysis three mornings a week. A cardiology follow-up. A discharge home after a two-night stay. The medical need is real, but there is no siren, no stretcher and no emergency room at the other end.

That gap is where most transportation falls apart. Family members burn vacation days. Rideshare drivers cancel when they see a walker. Public transit adds two transfers to a fifteen-minute trip. Jomia Med Transport exists to make the scheduled medical ride the most predictable part of the day.

Every trip is booked in advance with a confirmed pickup window, a named destination and a plan for the way back. Drivers are briefed on mobility needs before they arrive, so nobody has to explain a wheelchair or an oxygen concentrator on the curb.

04The Jomia experience

What travelling with Jomia actually feels like

Door-to-door, not curb-to-curb

The trip begins at the front door and ends inside the destination entrance. Nobody is left standing in a parking lot looking for the right building.

Scheduled around medical time

Pickups are built backwards from check-in time, with buffer for traffic on I-95 and the Prince William Parkway.

One point of contact

Call or email Jomia directly. You speak with the people who actually arrange the ride, not a national dispatch queue.

The driver arrives early, assists to the vehicle and secures the rider before moving.

  4. 4

Return trips are scheduled or arranged by call once the appointment finishes.

06Care and company

A ride that treats the person, not just the destination

Vehicles are cleaned between trips, climate controlled before the rider steps in, and quiet by default. Drivers introduce themselves by name, confirm the destination out loud and never rush a transfer.

Assistance from the door to the vehicle and back again

Seat belts and mobility equipment secured before departure

Companion seating available on request

Wheelchair accessible and ambulatory vehicle options

Advance scheduling for recurring weekly treatment

If an appointment runs long, the plan adjusts. Nobody is charged for the clock while a doctor is running behind, and nobody is left waiting outside because a schedule moved.

Questions, answered

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation: questions we hear in Woodbridge

An ambulance is for emergencies and carries clinical staff and equipment. NEMT is scheduled transportation for people who are medically stable but need assistance, mobility support or simply a safe, reliable ride to a health-related destination.

As early as you can. Booking at least 24 to 48 hours ahead gives the best chance of matching your exact pickup time, and recurring treatment schedules can be arranged weeks in advance. Call (571) 580-3193 for shorter notice and we will tell you honestly what is available.

Yes. A companion seat is usually available at no extra charge. Mention it when you book so the right vehicle is assigned, especially if the rider uses a wheelchair.

No. Jomia Med Transport provides transportation and physical assistance such as help with doors, steps and mobility equipment. We do not provide clinical care, medication administration or monitoring. If a rider needs clinical support in transit, an ambulance service is the correct choice.

For short visits such as a lab draw or an injection, wait-and-return can often be arranged. For longer appointments it is usually better to schedule a return pickup, and you can call when the visit finishes.

Jomia is based in Woodbridge and works throughout Northern Virginia, including Prince William and Fairfax County communities. For destinations further out in Virginia, contact us with the address and we will confirm availability before you rely on it.

Often yes, when the rider is calm in a vehicle and a caregiver has briefed us on what helps. Tell us at booking what the rider responds well to, and whether a family member will travel with them.
